Water Heaters

Place a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn’t touch the water.

Gurgling or banging sounds often indicate air in the system (fix by bleeding radiators) or limescale buildup (use a descaling solution if recommended for your boiler type).

Only if experienced—otherwise, consult a professional. Mineral buildup or electrical faults often cause boiler failure.

Set the thermostat to at least 12°C (54°F) when away, insulate pipes, and consider a frost protection setting if your boiler has one.
